About Me

Michelle McGolpin

MNCPS (Acc), GQHP, DCH, DHP. NLP & EFT Practitioner

I am a psychotherapeutic counsellor specialising in loss, grief, bereavement and life transitions. I am proud to have been supporting my clients since 2008.

I believe that while loss changes us, it doesn't have to define the rest of our lives.

Loss can take many forms. Sometimes it is the death of someone we love. Sometimes it is baby loss, relationship breakdown, redundancy, financial change, fertility challenges, or a future we had imagined for ourselves that no longer feels possible.

Whatever form it takes, loss can leave us feeling overwhelmed, uncertain and unsure of who we are or what comes next.

My role is not to tell you how you should feel or how quickly you should recover. Instead, I offer a compassionate, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions and experiences safely, and at a pace that feels right for you.

Together, we'll work towards helping you feel more able to cope, reconnect with yourself and find hope again, even when life feels uncertain.

Why I do this work

Supporting others has been a constant thread throughout my life.

Looking back, I think I have always been someone people naturally turned to during difficult times. Throughout my career, whether working in leadership, wellbeing or therapeutic practice, I have found meaning in helping people navigate challenge, uncertainty and change.

My understanding of loss began long before I trained as a counsellor. Loss has touched my own life in many different ways and has given me a deep appreciation of how profoundly it can affect our sense of identity, safety and direction.

These experiences, combined with my professional training and years of client work, have shaped my belief that while we cannot always change what has happened to us, we can learn how to carry it differently.

My professional experience

I have been supporting clients therapeutically since 2008. My work originally began within hypnotherapy, fertility support and hypnobirthing, helping individuals and couples navigate some of life's most emotionally challenging experiences.

Through this work, I became increasingly aware of the impact that grief, uncertainty and loss can have on people's emotional wellbeing. This naturally led me to expand my training into psychotherapeutic counselling and develop a particular interest in grief, bereavement, baby loss and life transitions.

Today, I work with adults experiencing:

  • Grief and bereavement

  • Baby loss

  • Life transitions

  • Relationship breakdown

  • Fertility-related challenges

  • Anxiety linked to loss and change

  • Identity and life-stage transitions

From 2024 to 2026, I volunteered for a local domestic abuse charity. I have seen survivors experience the most amazing life transformations - rebuilding their lives and achieving a new sense of self and a new life purpose.
